Rules & Regulations
All visitors to Ascension Island need the Administrator’s written permission to do so. Visitors must complete one form each and prior to arrival send to our office for processing, an approved form will be returned to the visitor. Also it is essential for visitors to have medical insurance which include medivac to an amount of £1,000,000.00. An entry permit form may be downloaded from this web site here and may be faxed back to 020 7575 6200.
All visitors must be in possession of a full medical insurance policy which covers medical evacuation by air, if necessary. Although a policy can be bought from the Ascension Island Government in Georgetown, visitors should note that cover under this policy is limited and for their own protection. Serious consideration should be given to taking out personal medical insurance before travelling including any additional cover for any pre-existing condition you may have. In any event pre-existing medical conditions will not be covered by the insurance policy available on the island.
Passenger baggage allowance is 27 kgs.
Cabin baggage allowance is one piece, not exceeding 9 kgs (19lbs), maximum dimensions of 60 x 53 x 25cms (24 x 21 x 10 ins).
This may be carried subject to available space and at the discretion of the check in staff. The excess baggage rates are currently £10 per kilo.
How to get to Brize Norton
For flight departures the RAF no longer provide any pick up or drop off service, it is the individual passengers responsibility to get to and from Brize Norton.
1) There are standard conditions of carriage by air offered by the RAF at the time of ticket issuance.
2) A limited number of seats per flight are allocated to civilians, therefore advance bookings are recommended.
3) AW Ship Management Ltd can request the Administrator’s permission for you to travel to the Island.
4) As these flights are under the sole control of the RAF AW Ship Management Ltd cannot guarantee that seats will always be available despite a seat confirmation, and that passengers may not be embarked or may be offloaded as a result of a military decision or if technical problems do occur with the aircraft or the required Military payload on that flight precludes a full compliment of passengers being carried.
