What type of plug sockets and voltage are used on board?

The electricity supply on board is the same as the UK with standard 3 pin sockets. The voltage is 240v.


Does the sea fare include meals?

Your sea fare includes all your meals whilst on board the RMS. Wine and other beverages are available with your meals, but are not included in the cost of your sea passage.


Can I use the Internet on board?

The RMS St Helena is delighted to announce that is now has full wi-fi and internet access in the main lounges on the ship. So now you can surf as you sail – happy days!


What is the baggage allowance for the RMS St Helena?

You are entitled to 2 pieces of baggage per person for your cabin and each bag must not exceed 23kg. We advise that you bring an overnight bag for your last night at sea as staff will collect your suitcases the night before you leave the ship.


Do I require a Visa for St Helena and Ascension Island?

No visas are required for St Helena. However, all visitors to Ascension Island will need to complete an entry permit prior to travel. Upon arrival you will be expected to pay a landing fee in UK sterling to immigration.


What is there to do on board?

The RMS has a swimming pool and a new gymnasium. Daily entertainment schedules are delivered to your cabin complete with details of the activities available that day. A play room is available for children.


What is the currency used on the RMS St Helena and the island?

The currency on board and on the island is UK sterling or St Helena Pound. Visa and Master card are accepted on board and are subject to an administrative charge. There are no cash facilities, however, cheque and card payments are accepted for the purchase of goods and services.


What is the weather like on St Helena?

The hottest months of the year are from January to March ranging from 20c to 32c in the summer. The coldest months are between June to September with temperatures ranging from 15c to 26c.


What is the dress code on board the RMS St Helena?

The RMS is an informal ship and during the day passengers can dress casual in shorts and t-shirts for example. During the evening attire will be more formal.


What about gratuities?

Tipping is not included in your sea fare however if you would like to show your appreciation to a member of crew then this can be arranged with the individuals or via the bureau on the ship.
